How to sign a PDF

Drop the PDF and tap Signature. Draw with your finger (on a phone) or mouse, type your name and pick a handwriting style, or use a photo of your signature on white paper — the background disappears on its own. Then tap the page where it goes and adjust it: drag to move, use the corner handle to resize.

Contract that needs initials on every page? Create your Initials, place them on the first page and tap Initial every page: they repeat in the same spot on each page. Date adds today’s date, and Text is for your name, ID number, city or whatever the document asks for.

The signature goes into the PDF as an image, just like a scanned signature: fine for receipts, authorizations, quotes, simple contracts and forms. It isn’t a certificate-based digital signature, which some official documents require.

Everything happens in your browser: neither the PDF nor your signature is uploaded anywhere, and the signature isn’t kept after you close the page. Need to fill in more of the document? Edit PDF has text, cover and highlight tools. To send it with a password, run Protect PDF afterwards.

Example: the 6-page lease

A lease needs a signature on the last page and initials on every page. Draw your signature with your finger, create your initials and place them on the first page; Initial every page repeats them in the same corner of all six sheets. Add the Date and your city with Text, download and send it back, without printing or scanning.

Questions about signing PDFs

Is a drawn signature valid?

It counts like a scanned signature: fine for receipts, authorizations, proposals and simple contracts between the parties. Documents that require a certificate-based digital signature need that specific kind.

Can I use a photo of my signature?

Yes: photograph your signature on white paper and choose the photo. The background disappears on its own and only the stroke remains.

Is my signature saved on the site?

No. It only exists while the page is open, in your browser, and disappears when you close it.

Can I sign on my phone?

Yes, and it’s even easier: draw with your finger, tap the page where the signature goes and adjust the size with the corner handle.
